■ Scrap and Build

If it’s artificial, you can do anything, and it’s easy and sluggish, isn’t it?

This work started from a disturbing atmosphere. Still, I got the knowledge of the mystery of the use that it is not easy to make a city image from a scratch.

The idea is simple; combine square photos. It’s the same as the previous work. But this time we’ve evolved to prepare them in large quantities, make them transparent, combine them, and create a completely different image.

The shooting location is around “IKEA”, in short, I liked it for making DIY images. One of the reasons why it is not “Nitori” or “MUJI” is that IKEA in Osaka is located in a port district that is a little suburban, and there are scrap factories in the surrounding area, so it is easy to meet.

In the contemporary art, the method of collecting scraps and assembling three-dimensional works is solid. I’d like to do a photo version of it. That’s why.

By the way, if you use photos like puzzles to bring images to life, there is a technique called “photo mosaic” that is famous for the material of Jim Carrey’s movie “Truman Show”, right?

However, the method has a pre-decided image, and the material should be arranged accordingly. For this work, on the other hand, there is no particularly specific image prepared although there is a rough goal of “city image”. The finished image is not a specific city such as Osaka or TOKYO 2020, but a product of imagination.

Therefore, it can be any city in the world.

I think that it should be left to the imagination of the resident how the resident builds the city no matter which city in the world.

You may be able to imagine a city like Singapore with the ship floating in the air or a city crawling tubes around it like Elon Musk wants to make, rather than a déja vu city.

I would be happy if this work suggest you such a free imagination.
